From Louis Renard’s 1754 publication: “Histoire naturelle des plus rares curiousitez de la mer des Indes”, these illustrations depict life from the oceans around Indonesia. Many of the colours were greatly exaggerated and some of the fish were even completely made up, turning this piece of history into a fantastical bit of imagination fuel.
